Four new restaurants offering “fine dining experiences at accessible prices” have opened at Loulé’s MAR Shopping as part of a new gastronomic concept entitled ‘Algarve Chef Experience’.

Thais Brás, My Pastta, G’s Bistro and Portuguese Lab are the names of the new eateries led by distinguished chefs Leonel Pereira, Louis Anjos, Guy Doré and José Domingos, respectively.

As the mall’s general manager Herman Gewert said, similar concepts have been implemented in other shopping centres across Portugal but none is quite like this.

“There is a very interesting parallelism with the IKEA concept, as one of the challenges these chefs face is to set an accessible price and then develop signature dishes in a restaurant with gastronomic options for every taste and wallet,” he said.

Thais Brás will offer diners a “mix of Portuguese and Asian flavours” as dishes will feature mostly local ingredients, but with an oriental spin. It will be led by chef Leonel Pereira, known for his work at the Michelin-starred São Gabriel restaurant in Almancil.

My Pastta, as the name suggests, will have a menu filled with a variety of fresh pasta served with classic Italian sauces, but using Portuguese produce. It will be an added challenge for Louis Anjos, who has just been announced as the new chef at Carvoeiro’s Michelin-starred restaurant Bon Bon (click here).

Chef Guy Doré, who has been showcasing his culinary talents in the Algarve for over 30 years, will be recreating a French bistro at G Bistro. While Doré’s dishes will use staple ingredients of French cuisine like French cheeses, Dijon mustard and Herbes de Provence, he promises to combine them with Algarve fruits and veggies as well as wines and beers.

Last but not least, Portuguese Lab by chef José Domingos will focus on Portuguese cuisine and ‘bacalhau’ (codfish) in particular, giving customers a taste of what Portuguese food is all about.

All restaurants are located in the mall’s food court.
