An internal police investigation into the accidental shooting of a Brazilian woman during a ‘car chase’ in Lisbon last year has concluded that the six agents who released 40 rounds acted in “legitimate defence” due to the dangerous driving of the man at the wheel of the vehicle which they mistakenly believed had been involved in a security heist (click here).

It was only after the shooting that police realised the man was simply panicking as he had no driving licence, and thought if he stopped he would be fined.

As it was, his passenger and girlfriend Ivanice Costa was shot in the neck and died almost immediately.

The police investigation has been underway since last November.

Say reports, it has failed to identify which of the six agents was responsible for the fatal shot.
