Several thousand fans were treated to a feast of fast attacking football as former European Champions Ajax beat RB Leipzig 5-1 at the Estádio de Nora in Ferreiras last Saturday.
Ajax’s lively winger Amin Younes got the ball rolling midway through the first-half and the Dutch team added further goals prior to the interval. Dolberg slotted home the second before Amin Younes bagged a third two minutes later.
Amin Younes was certainly enjoying the late afternoon sunshine as he wrapped up his hat-trick shortly after the interval. In a blood-and-thunder encounter, more reminiscent of a cup tie than a friendly, several players were lucky to remain on the park thanks to a very lenient referee.
Just after the hour mark, RB Leipzig pulled a goal back through Davie Selke, a target of Stoke City and other English Premier League clubs.
With 10 minutes remaining, El Ghazi added number five for Ajax.
Earlier in the day, Ajax’s second string lost 3-1 to Excelsior who opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Nigel Hasselbaink found the back of the net.
Ajax drew level 20 minutes from time through Mitchell Dijks before Anour Hadouir (78’) and Juergen Matthews (82’) ensured victory for Excelsior.
