A team of six firefighters from Albufeira firestation (BVA) travelled to Nenagh, Tipperay, Ireland, to take part in an international rescue competition on the weekend of April 20-22.

They had received an invitation from Rescue Organisation Ireland (ROI) to participate once again in the RTC (Rescue Traffic Challenge) extraction and trauma challenges.

National and international teams are given the opportunity to display their skills and knowledge to compete in a variety of challenges during the event.

Nuno Correia, spokesperson for Albufeira firefighters, said: “I am delighted to report that thanks to the whole team demonstrating their knowledge, skills, commitment and team spirit, they have won the accolade of Best International Team in the ROI RTC (Road Traffic Challenge) and Trauma Challenge.

“A strong connection has been formed between the BVA and Padraig O’Longaigh, Secretary of the Rescue Organisation Ireland. Participation in such an event and winning Best International Team makes us feel very proud once again of our firefighters and we thank them for their continuing dedication and commitment.”
