Albufeira will host an original festival next month that will combine jazz music and food. Entitled ‘Algarve Jazz Gourmet Moments’, the event will take place between May 12 and 14.
This is how it will work – five restaurants in Albufeira will offer menus created especially for the event "at very special prices” that will celebrate the best of Algarvean cuisine.
Diners will then enjoy a jazz concert at the congress centre of the São Rafael hotel.
Renowned American trumpet player Tom Harrell will be the first to perform alongside the Algarve Jazz Orchestra on Friday, May 12.
“Praised by Newsweek for his pure melodic genius, Tom Harrell is widely recognised as one of the most creative and dynamic jazz instrumentalists and composers of our time,” according to the biography on his website.
French Jazz singer Virginie Teychené will take the stage the following night, while Grammy-nominee Jane Monheit will bring the festival to a close on Sunday, May 14.
Concerts begin at 9.30pm with ticket costing €15. Participating restaurants include O Marinheiro, O Alagar, Veneza, La Cigale and A Casa da Avó.
