The alert is out today (Saturday) for four top-of-the-range camper vans stolen in what appears to have been a surgically-targeted heist from a warehouse in São Brás de Alportel on Thursday night (see updated story: http://portugalresident.com/%E2%80%9Cmassive-mobilisation%E2%80%9D-saves...).

The Fiat Ducato vans, each worth €30,000, are almost identical to the images above, but the company stresses that it has some vehicles legally-rented to customers on the road at the same time. Thus registration numbers should be checked. These are 06-PR-86, 06-PR-85, 09-SV-79, and 09-SV-80.

It’s not instantly clear how the thieves managed to get into the warehouse, nor how they knew where to find the vehicles' keys. For now Soul Campers Vanlife Portugal is simply asking all its friends and former customers to keep an eye out and report anything back ASAP.

According to Jornal Barlavento, the vans were seen heading east (possibly in the direction to Spain) on side roads around Santa Catarina do Fonte do Bispo, but since then the trail has gone cold.

Today it’s simply a question of everyone being asked to keep eyes peeled in the hope that the vans' whereabouts and/ or destination will be discovered, and this local company will not have to face the dismal prospect of closing down.

Anyone with any information should call proprietors Tânia Madeira and Pedro Dinis on 926 332 434.
