The Amigos de Música have been committed to bringing great music to the Algarve for over a quarter-century now. And in our “home” in the Quinta dos Agostos, or simply “Os Agostos”, we have found the best environment for our indulgence and a most excellent venue with great acoustics to invite world-class musicians to.

Sixteen concerts per year are enjoyed by an appreciative international music-loving audience. The standard of chamber music at Os Agostos is enabling us to establish a more and more loyal audience from among the culture-seeking residents up and down the Algarve, and they are welcomed in the bucolic ambiance of Os Agostos estate not only with a glass of wine and canapes, but also with friendship and conviviality. Please come and experience for yourself – everybody is welcome up in the hills between Sta Bárbara de Nexe and Bordeira.

Set up as a private membership organisation, this circle of “Friends of Music” forms a community at the heart of our music-making in the Algarve which everybody can join. The Amigos, as our supporters are simply called, share in our achievements and help us to go further with our ambition and dream to give performances of the finest music, thus reaching a diverse range of people each year in the Algarve.

Members play an integral part in the programming and, at the same time, gaining many benefits through regular events, early notification of concert details and opportunities to meet the visiting musicians. The new membership year begins in September, and for membership information, please contact me directly: helga.hampton@btinternet.com

We are thrilled to open the 2017/18 Season with two evening concerts with the unusual pairing of a guitar and a flute. The Haga Duo comes from Sweden and on Tuesday, September 19, they will not only play music by Schubert and Mozart, but will also surprise us with a piece by the Swedish composer Ana-Lena Laurin, “Tempus Fugit” as a World Premiere. On Wednesday, September 20, they will play wonderful pieces by Ibert, Ravel, Tarrega, Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla.
