Anantara Vilamoura’s EMO restaurant has received the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence 2018 for offering its clients a world-class selection of wine.

The accolade “recognises restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style,” says the restaurant

The announcement came shortly after EMO welcomed its new ‘Wine Guru’ Bruno Viegas, who describes his job as ‘discovering innovative and original wines to surprise’ the restaurant’s guests and clients.

Anantara Vilamoura now has a new Wine Boutique selling a selection of wines and serving as a venue for wine-related events and master classes.

And to ensure there are even more reasons to pay EMO a visit, the restaurant is hosting a series of Wine Nights every Thursday until August 23.

Bruno Cunha promotes the events as “challenging sensorial journeys” which every week will shine the spotlight on a different variety of wines. There will also be cocktails, canapés and a special taster menu. The price for each Wine Night, taking place every Thursday, is €150.

Last but not least, the Vilamoura-based resort is also hosting two ‘Battles of the Bubbles’ which will see some of Portugal’s main sparkling wine producers going head-to-head with Champagne producers from France in a contest to crown the best champagne, all the while giving guests a chance to enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. Both ‘battles’ cost €150 per person and take place this Thursday (July 26) and next.
