Former Olhanense favourite Jardel now with Benfica

Following extensive negotiations between SC Olhanense, Benfica and the Portuguese Football Association, the Portugal Cup third round tie has been switched to the Algarve Stadium, Faro, on Saturday, October 14, at 7pm.

The draw was supposed to favour the lower league clubs, giving them the home advantage, but Olhanense has succumbed to pressure to move to a bigger venue, even though previous games between the two clubs have not attracted large crowds - four years ago there were just over 3,000 spectators for a League Cup game between the two teams.

Many of the Benfica squad will have played at the Algarve Stadium, whilst for the Olhanense team, with one exception, it will be a totally new experience.

A player Olhanense fans hope will be playing for Benfica is Jardel who played for the Algarve club six seasons ago.

Tickets for the big game are on sale at Garvetur in Quarteira, Faro, Vilamoura, Loulé and Portimão. Tickets are priced at €8 (Olhanense socio-members) and for the general public €10, €15 and €20. Tickets can also be purchased at SC Olhanense, José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão, between 10am and 3pm and at the Algarve Stadium prior to the game.

Fans are advised to arrive early at the Algarve Stadium owing to security checks.

On Sunday, SC Farense will entertain Primeira Liga side Estoril Praia at the Estádio de São Luís in the only other Portugal Cup tie being played in the Algarve. Kick-off at 3pm.
