It is described as the “biggest Rota do Petisco ever” and it begins on Thursday, October 4, encouraging food lovers to try some of the nearly 300 tapas available all over the Algarve.

This year’s Rota is being held in a record 277 eateries as Albufeira, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Castro Marim will be taking part in the event for the first time.

The gastronomic route, considered one of the main gastronomic happenings in the Algarve, will be held until November 4 and involves eateries offering a variety of typical Algarvean dishes and desserts at reduced prices, giving people the chance to try different flavours.

For €1 people can buy a passport which is a guide to all the venues and their menus and allows them to sample a variety of typical dishes in tapas form for €3, accompanied by a drink.

Local sweets and desserts can also be tasted for €2.

Funds raised through the sale of Rota do Petisco passports go to help local charities and institutions.

The full list of all participating eateries and what they are serving can be found on the event’s website.
