A Business Cocktail Evening organised by the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce is being held on October 19 at Monte do Além wine estate, Odiáxere, Lagos, from 6pm.

The cocktail evening, sponsored by Monte do Além and ActionCOACH, is a short after-work event that allows new and existing members to get together and network.

The Belgian family behind Monte do Além makes the most of the wine estate’s location to produce quality wines. The vineyards are located “between the Atlantic Ocean and the Monchique mountains and benefit from the mild Mediterranean climate”.

The family fell in love with the Algarve during their travels and ended up buying a property and renovating the existing house before embarking into a wine adventure, producing high-quality organic wine. They gained an extensive wine knowledge and decided to take a chance and began launching their own labels in 2007.

Aiming to respect the local soil and also the consumer, no pesticides, weed killers or synthetic chemical agents are ever used at Monte do Além. The winery has been awarded the organic certification from the Portuguese authorities since 2009.

“We often see wildlife, like rabbits or partridges on our farm, as they feel this is a welcoming, natural environment,” said owner Vinciane Nieuwenhuys.

The other sponsor, ActionCOACH, is a business coaching company that helps business owners “improve their results, increase profits and establish effective strategies”.
