Carvoeiro will be ‘the’ place to be this Saturday (June 17) when the beachside village hosts its hugely popular ‘Black & White Night’ party.

Described as the mega event that kicks off the Algarve’s summer agenda, this year’s party is promising to be bigger and better than ever with celebrations being expanded to Rua dos Pescadores, the amphitheatre near the church and Estrada do Farol.

Organisers expecting to attract a record 30,000 people, and to make sure parking is not an issue, the council is laying on a free bus service from Lagoa’s Fatacil, Intermarché, Apolónia and Aldi supermarkets, which will function from 6pm to 4am the next day.

Carvoeiro’s ‘Black & White Night’ was created in 2014 by Lagoa council as a way of promoting Carvoeiro nationally and internationally, and bringing in more holidaymakers to the town before the busiest summer months of July and August.

In just three years, the council says the initiative has become “a mega event which is extremely important to the local economy.”

This year, the party begins at 8.30pm with Malcolm Macmillan and the “sounds of the Scottish Highlands”, followed by performances by Quarteto Sul’Arte and Fado singer Inês Graça.

Other performers include the Zé Manel Martins Trio, Night & Day Trio, Let’s Go Out Band, Daddy Jack Band as well as a number of DJs.

There will also be fire shows and Capoeira demonstrations.

The “dance floor” on Carvoeiro beach opens at midnight and will stay open until 3am, with music provided by DJ Sunlize and DJ Pete Sleev.
