A LED lighting system has been installed along Carvoeiro’s stunning 570-metre wooden beach boardwalk between Algar Seco and the fortess of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação.

Representing a €56,000 investment, the system involves 114 LED light bulbs with a lifespan of around 50,000 hours.

“Visitors can go for a walk or enjoy some physical exercise at night, with safety, along the entirety of the boardwalk,” Lagoa council said in a statement.

The walkway officially opened on September 19, 2014 and has since become a much-loved spot for locals and holidaymakers.
