CASA The Social Club has recently made a donation towards the Castelo de Sonhos "Back to School" project.

According to a 2018 survey, the average annual cost to families of one child’s school supplies is now €487, beyond the reach of many poorer families.

With the money donated by members at the annual CASA barbecue at the Holiday Inn in Armação de Pêra, the club has been able to purchase 20 teenager backpacks and assorted stationery items. These were delivered to the Silves-based charity on August 30 and added to the 30 backpacks, 50 gym bags and other items donated via other organisations.

Behind Liliana is Sue Butler-Cole, who provides assistance to Castelo de Sonhos by interfacing with ACCA (Algarve association supporting needy children) and other clubs and organisations.

The next planned CASA event is a dinner in Carvoeiro on Saturday, September 29. Full details of this and other planned events, which are also open to non-members, can be obtained from the club website www.casasocial.club or from Margaret Brito on 282 495 475 or by e-mail to info@casasocial.club
