A performance by Amigos do Museu de São Brás Choir entitled ‘A Journey Through the Commonwealth’ is taking place on Friday, June 15 at Tavira’s Fundação Irene Rolo, and on Saturday, June 16 at Museu do Traje in São Brás de Alportel (pictured), both commencing at 6pm.

Under maestro António Maria de Jesus, “a new avenue is being explored”, with a programme largely of 20th and 21st century songs, including songs from Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Britain, the countries which created the first Commonwealth.

A choir spokesperson said: “This is an appropriate year to celebrate the Commonwealth, being the year of the Commonwealth Games.”

Entrance: donations welcome in Tavira; €5 per person in São Brás museum.
