A collection of dramatic pieces from the renowned artist Rui Matos, entitled “Histórias de Outras Idades”, is being exhibited at the Vale do Lobo Art Gallery from March 8 to June 7.

The sculptures by Rui Matos are characterised by his use of expressive shapes and forms to communicate emotions and feelings in a highly distinctive style.

Born in Lisbon in 1959, Rui Matos lives and works close to Sintra and is known for his sculptures created in various media. He completed a degree in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine arts in Lisbon and became a Scholar of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 1993.

A selection of iron sculptures will be on display at the gallery as part of an ongoing collaboration between the resort and the São Mamede Gallery.

The exhibition is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm.
