With the hopes of the nation on his shoulders in Russia, Portugal’s footballing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reported to be hoping that Spanish tax authorities accept his new ‘offer’ towards cleaning the slate.

Daily paper El Mundo suggests CR7 is willing to pay €19 million to clear up the controversy over image rights income.

The deal would involve him publicly assuming guilt on four counts of fiscal fraud, but it would release him from the apparently valid threat of imprisonment.

Say reports here today, Ronaldo had hoped to have everything agreed before the national team set off for the 2018 World Cup.

But Spain’s recent change of government “will delay all judicial cases” and thus the issue is still in the air as Ronaldo captain’s Portugal’s ‘best of the best’ (click here).
