The second “SHARE Algarve” digital marketing conference has been dubbed another huge success by organisers, proving that last year’s triumphant debut was not a fluke.

Around 400 people from all over Portugal descended on the Anantara Vilamoura Resort last weekend (February 2-3) to hear what the 30 key speakers had to say about the current digital marketing landscape.

Facebook specialist Dennis Yu travelled from the USA especially for the event and described it as an “amazing conference that will be even more incredible next year as a top event in the EU”.

Themes discussed varied from innovation, social networks and virtual reality to e-commerce and digital transformation, and how these areas can be applied directly in the tourism, hotel and golf sectors.

Said Jorge Cabaço, one of the organisers, the event was a “huge success on many levels”.

“The number of participants increased, 14 nationalities were represented, more women and more exhibitors attended. This is proof that we are doing something right and relevant to more sectors than those that we traditionally associate with innovation and technology,” he said.

“The future is today and companies are aware that if they do not adapt to the new forms of communication, it is their livelihood that is jeopardised.”

Cabaço and co-organiser Rita Sampaio believe the event has the potential to become a hallmark conference in Europe, which is why this year it was held completely in English.

Meantime, next year’s “SHARE Algarve” is already being planned, with one of the goals being to achieve more partnerships to help the event reach its full potential.

“This year we had a partnership with Anantara and Vilamoura World. In future editions, we would like to reach interesting markets on a European level and attract many visitors at a time of year when seasonality strongly affects our region,” Rita Sampaio said.
