Today (May 11) is the day Faro sees the launch of the first stage of popular tapas route ‘Rota de Tapas Estrella Damm’, held annually by Spanish beer company Damm.

The concept is simple – for €3, diners can enjoy regional tapas accompanied by a Estrella Damm beer at one of the 18 participating eateries (listed below) until Sunday, May 28.

Tapas include muxama (dried tuna), Mediterranean mackerel with carob bread, shrimp marinated in Algarve citrus juice and several other mouth-watering and Algarve-inspired creations.

“Bringing the route to Faro is a result of the increasing demand from consumers and restaurants in the region,” said Estrella Damm’s marketing manager Elsa Cerqueira.

The event, which will also be held in Lisbon and Braga between May 18 and June 4, is supported by the regional tourism board (RTA), Faro council, the Algarve’s hotel and tourism schools and the ‘365 Algarve’ cultural programme.

Participating restaurants: Castelo; Faz Gostos; Vila Adentro; Tertúlia Algarvia; O11ze Tapas; Aqui D’El Rei; Columbus Cocktail & Wine Bar; Cinderela Farense; Mezzazine Bar & Vinoteca; Pé de Copos Restobar; Costa Algarvia; Innocent; Restaurante Académico; Aperitivo; Rooftop (Hotel Eva); Boheme; Sushi Ya Fusion and Portas de São Pedro.
