Statistics institute INE reports that the “evolution of Portuguese exports and imports in May” registered a “significant deceleration” on numbers emerging from April

Exports increased by 6.2% as opposed to 17.7% logged just a month before. Imports grew even less: by just 0.03% as opposed to April’s increase of 12.9%.

INE stresses that much of the ‘slowdown’ owes itself to “calendar effects”: April 2017 had two less working days than April 2018, while May 2017 had one more than May this year.
