Businesses in downtown Faro are staying open until midnight on Fridays as part of the town’s third Baixa Street Fest.

The event starts tomorrow (July 13) and will run until August 24, aiming to attract more customers to local businesses by keeping them open until later and also organising a wealth of street entertainment.

Several businesses will also be offering special discounts during the event.

“Our goal is to stimulate local businesses with an entertainment programme that is even more dynamic and features the best national and international street performers,” says Faro mayor Rogério Bacalhau.

He adds that the event has pulled residents as well as tourists to Faro’s downtown area, helping them “rediscover ‘their own’ downtown”.

The initiative will take place every Friday until August 25 from 9pm to midnight.
