A fire broke out on Monday afternoon at a building in Vila Real de Santo António where historic trains from the start of the 20th century were stored.

Three of them were completely destroyed. As we went to press, there was still no word on the state of two unique trains which were due to be moved to the national railway museum in Entroncamento.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the building is at risk of collapse.
