The Mediterranean Garden Fair, described as “the Algarve’s only specialist plant sale”, will celebrate the start of the gardening year at the Museu de São Brás de Alportel on Saturday, October 27 from 11am to 4pm. Once again, the event will take place in the historic courtyard garden behind the museum, with plenty of room to sit and chat and time to visit the nurseries.

The first Mediterranean Garden Fair was held on November 2, 2008, so, this year, organisers will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the fair.

Visitors to the garden fair will be able to take advantage of free entry to the programme of talks. “Native Plants” by João Gomes of Sementes de Portugal will be at 11.30am and “Medicinal and Culinary Tropical Plants and Their Uses in the Garden & Kitchen” by Fernanda Botelho at 2pm.

Also available at the Garden Fair will be plants native to Portugal and plants adapted to the Mediterranean climate, information and advice from the nursery owners and from the MGAP information table and Plant Clinic.

The Mediterranean Garden Fair is organised by MGAP (Mediterranean Gardening Association–Portugal).
Entry is €1. Those under 16, accompanied by an adult, entre for free.
