Gibraltar line-up against Bosnia Hertzegovina
Two-goal Bosnia Hertzegovina skipper Edin Džeko (blue) and Gibraltar captain Roy Chipolina

Gibraltar put up a brave fight against their more illustrious opponents Bosnia Hertzegovina, ranked 30th in the world, in a World Cup qualifier at the Algarve Stadium last Sunday.

The part-timers from The Rock held out until 10 minutes before the interval when Edin Džeko rose above a static defence to head home from a corner.

Kodro (65’) added a second before Lulic put the result beyond doubt with a third in the 83rd minute. There was still time for former Manchester City and now Roma centre-forward Džeko to get his second goal and make it 4-0 on the night.

Ibrahim in the Gibraltar goal was the ‘man of the match’ as he saved 25 attempts on goal including an incredible double save just prior to the interval. Gibraltar’s next game is against Estonia at the Algarve Stadium on October 7.
