The beachside town of Monte Gordo has become the meeting point for hundreds of Harley Davidson bikers from all over the world who are in the Algarve until Monday (May 21).

Entitled the ‘1st Algarve Free Chapter’, the event started on Tuesday (May 15) and sees around 450 bikers travelling to the Algarve from countries such as Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Hungary and Poland but also from as far as Brazil, Canada, South Africa and Vietnam.

The goal of the event is to bring together Harley riders, create friendships and organise events that allow them to discover new countries and people.

Most of their time in the region will be spent embarking on bike rides, the first of which was due to take place on Wednesday as we went to press.

On Thursday, the bikers will be travelling to Tavira while on Friday most will be visiting Vila Real de Santo António.

Saturday will see bikers exploring the lower Guadiana area, namely Castro Marim, while on Sunday the journey will be to Faro before the Harley enthusiasts return home on Monday.
