With muscles massaged and joints strapped up, players prepare for action

Cottingham lies just five kilometres north-west of Kingston upon Hull and claims to be one of the largest villages in England. Established in 1972, Cottingham Rangers FC consists of 27 teams playing in various local football leagues for boys, girls, men, veterans, disability teams and more recently walking footballers.

A group from the Walking Football section, all over 55 years-of-age, have this week been in the Algarve and on Tuesday were the guests of East Algarve Walking Football at a WF Festival in Olhão.

Fours teams from Tavira, Olhão and Cottingham enjoyed a vigorous morning’s competition which will be replicated on Friday before the visitors return to the UK on Sunday.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, Walking Football teams from Spain, Silver Coast (Lisbon), Vilamoura, Tavira and Olhão will compete in a mini-tournament at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão, starting at 9.30am each day. Free admission.
