Judicial police in Leiria are investigating “the origin of some human bones which were found yesterday in a pine forest close to a shopping centre in Vieira de Leiria, in the borough of Marinha Grande”, reports tabloid Correio da Manhã today.

The bones have been taken to the institute of legal medicine, and for now, no one appears to have any idea how long they may have lain there “or who they belonged to”, says the paper.

Initial impressions, however, is that this is not a case of any kind of crime.

Clothes were apparently found near the bones, and these too have been removed for closer inspection.
