Organisers are celebrating another successful ‘Moving to Portugal’ seminar, which attracted a crowd of around 700 people to the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel in London on Thursday, March 22.

The event comprised several seminars with speakers going into topics such as tax planning before moving to Portugal, how to benefit from Portugal’s non-habitual tax regime, how to structure pensions to receive them abroad, how to organise mortgage finance, the legal property buying process, and how to minimise currency risks.

It was the fourth time that the event was held, having gained much notoriety among those thinking about moving to Portugal.

An extensive press advertising campaign that ran in national newspapers resulted in hundreds of people pre-registering to attend the event.

Apart from the seminars, visitors had a chance to speak with several companies that were exhibiting at the event, among them real estate agents covering Porto, Lisbon, the Silver Coast and the Algarve.

There were also tax advisors, wealth managers, luxury resorts with properties to sell, mortgage providers, currency experts and lawyers on hand providing answers to any questions visitors might have.

The event was organised by the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, which already has its sights set on the next ‘Moving to Portugal’ seminar which will be held on June 26 at the same hotel.

The Open Media Group was official media partner of the event. All attendees received a goodie bag containing a copy of the March 15 edition of the Algarve Resident, with a special 12-page ‘Moving to Portugal’ supplement, and a copy of Essential Algarve magazine.
