Salmon meatballs are the latest addition to the menus of IKEA’s five restaurants in Portugal, offering a “healthy and sustainable” alternative to IKEA’s hallmark Swedish meatballs.

The meatballs use salmon and codfish with ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) and MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certification and are seasoned with marine algae and lemon lamb.

“The salmon meatballs represent another step in IKEA Food’s strategy to offer healthier meals that use more responsible resources at more accessible prices to our clients,” said Nuno Ceitil, head of IKEA Food in Portugal.

“We are very proud to have taken part in the development of this product and to be the first country to introduce it in our restaurants,” he added.

In Portugal, IKEA stores can be found in Loulé, Alfragide, Loures, Braga and Matosinhos.
