Believe it or not, the first guests will be checking into the new Tivoli Carvoeiro on Monday, April 10.

Local residents saw the original April 1 opening date come and go with cranes and heavy machinery still onsite as we went to print on Wednesday evening. But a quick phone call to Minor Hotels (the new owner company) area marketing and PR manager Henrique Pires confirmed that all is on track.

No doubt they will be working around the clock over the weekend but on Monday, the first 128 guest rooms will open, leaving just one wing of the hotel with a 118 further rooms for completion in June.

Guests on Monday, however, will already be able to enjoy the pool area and the three restaurants; Med Food & Wine for breakfast and all-day dining, The One for Portuguese fine dining with prime meats and seafood, and Maré Bistro by the pool for Italian-themed light snacks.

The new bar next to The One restaurant will also be open for business, but we will have to wait until the end of the month for the much-anticipated Sky Bar on the roof-top. The spa and gym are also expected to open at the end of April.
