Kozii, a clothing and accessories brand which has its concept store in Tavira, has introduced a new dyeing technique known as ‘Ikat’ into its collection for this winter.

“Produced in many traditional textile centres around the world, it’s most recognisable characteristic is an apparent ‘blurriness’ to the design,” the brand says.

“This blurriness is a result of the extreme difficulty the weaver has in lining up the dyed yarns so that the pattern comes out perfectly in the finished cloth.”

As Kozii explains, the manufacturing of Ikat fabrics is a “very slow and meticulous art form and extremely skilled craftsmen are essential to achieve highly artistic results, which explains why it is so often prized by many textile collectors”.

Kozii also says that it always tries to “find a balance between design, development and sustainability” when it uses Ikat or other textile techniques while also trying to “inspire good business practices and the continuing revitalisation of traditional skills”.

“And it is precisely in this context that Kozii crafts its very unique style, resulting in the creation of unmissable proposals.”

For who might not know, Kozii is a clothing and textile brand that is best known for its printing and weaving techniques, its fabric selections, its ethnic inspiration and sustainability approach.

Created in 2015 and based in Tavira, it boasts four stores – two in Tavira, one in Castro Marim and another in Vila Nova de Milfontes.
