Beautifully decorated, mouth-watering sweets are the main attraction of Lagos’ Arte Doce event, running from Friday to Sunday (July 28-30) and described as the Algarve’s “oldest sweets show”.

Taking place at the municipal sports complex, it is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet-tooth. Dozens of confectioners take part, showcasing their products while vying also for various prizes.

This year’s theme is ‘Flowers and Plants’. There will also be a selection of regional products and handicrafts on sale and a musical programme filled with well-known Portuguese artists.

Acts include singer Ana Moura (Friday), hip-hop artist Dengaz (Saturday) and pop rock duo Ala dos Namorados (Sunday).

Doors open every day at 6pm and close at midnight, with musical performances scheduled for 10pm.

Admission is free.
