German supermarket chain Lidl has warned that a fraudulent campaign offering clients €250 gift cards and special discounts is making the rounds of social media in Portugal.

The fake campaign has been circulating on social media pages such as Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp and encourages people to provide personal information in exchange for discounts and a chance to win €250 gift cards.

The chain says it is a “scam” and that all official campaigns and discounts are advertised exclusively on Lidl’s website and social network pages.

Lidl adds that clients can contact the company’s customer service line (800025025) to clarify any doubts they may have.
