SC Olhanense, relegated from the Primeira Liga just three years ago, suffered the ignominy of losing their Segunda Liga status in May and will be hoping to make a swift return to the top professional ranks when they commence their Prio Portugal Championship on Sunday, August 20 at 5pm. Opponents at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão will be another local side Almancilense who recently signed Ivan Dias (ex. IF Huginn, Iceland) from Olhanense.

Olhanense have played pre-season games against Benfica U19s resulting in a 0-0 draw and Castrense, with the team from Castro Verde scoring the only goal of the game.

Manager Bruno Saraiva will be pleased with his defence and midfield but a lack of a proven goal scorer will concern him. The recent addition of Cape Verde international striker Mailó may fit the bill with the 25-year-old having played for Varzim last season in the Segunda Liga.

A final workout for the squad will take place in Lepe, Spain where Olhanense will play San Roque on Friday, August 11 at 9pm (8pm Portuguese time) at the modern Estadio Ciudad de Lepe.
