Two people were unharmed when a private jet had to make an emergency landing shortly after taking off from the Alvor aerodrome in Portimão on Sunday morning.

It was only moments after take-off that the jet’s engine started to fail, forcing the pilot to return to the aerodrome and attempt an emergency landing.

He was able to land the plane at the aerodrome although he missed the landing strip, causing some damage to the jet.

Portimão fire commander Richard Marques said no fire or fuel leak were reported despite the rocky landing.
