Centro Infantil da Luz, the busy crèche based in Praia da Luz (Lagos), has vastly improved its playground following a donation of 450sqm of artificial grass by local company Mãos Verdes.

Natural grass has no time to grow in the playground due to the number of little feet going backwards and forwards over it. Over the years, the area has become so “dusty and dirty” that the children “could not use it safely”.

Thanks to Mãos Verdes’ artificial grass, Luz’s youngsters are now free to play in every corner of the playground - and much to the delight of staff and parents, “they come in clean”.
The new grass also means the playground can be used all year round as it remains “consistently clean”.

“We wanted to do something to help in Luz, which is our home turf. Specifically in a school, as we have improved many schools in surrounding villages,” said a statement from Mãos Verdes.

“As soon as we saw the playground area at the crèche we decided that this was the one. The appreciation of the directors and staff of the school, and fact that the local children now have a much greater area to play in is reward enough.”

Said Mãos Verdes, the grass was installed free of charge by José Santos of Vilsan.
