MAR Shopping Algarve is celebrating its first Christmas this year. To make sure visitors have plenty to do to keep their holiday spirits going while shopping, the Loulé-based mall has unveiled a special Christmas programme.

One of the highlights is a Christmas Village named ‘Floresta Encantada’ (Enchanted Forest) which promises to delight younger crowds every day between 10am and 9pm.

Inside, children will be able to write letters to Santa Claus, create their own Christmas cards, watch and act out plays with puppets, take part in origami classes, ride a Christmas carrousel and even take a photograph with Santa.

Santa will be at the Christmas Village every day until Christmas Eve (December 24) between 11am and 2pm and 3pm and 9pm.

There will also be musical entertainment, with the Loulé children’s choir (Grupo Coral Infantil de Loulé ) performing at the mall on Friday, December 8 at midday and 5pm, on Sunday, December 10 at the same times, on Sunday, December 17 at midday and on Saturday, December 23 at midday.

Loulé’s MAR Shopping Algarve opened on October 26. Home to Portugal’s largest Primark store, the Algarve’s first Starbucks coffeehouse and a state-of-the-art movie theatre, the shopping centre is part of the €200 million mega complex that includes the IKEA store that opened in March and Designer Outlet Algarve which opened last month.
