Taste Restaurant in Carvoeiro moved to a new location at the end of Rua do Barranco (road out of town) and is looking forward to a great year ahead, if the opening party was anything to go by.

Husband and wife team, Nicola and Ciprian Silvasan, closed the old restaurant in November, and since then have been “hard at work knocking the new restaurant into shape”.

“It’s been a real team effort,” Nicola told us. “All the staff have pitched in with the renovation, even helping to paint.”

February 2 was the grand opening party, and it was standing room only inside the beautifully decorated new premises.

The canapés and drinks flowed while the restaurant’s loyal patrons popped in to wish the couple success in their new venture. The evening was filled with entertainment ranging from a cocktail presentation by Head Bartender and Portugal’s Barman finalist Jeferson Santos, live music with Althea and the spectacular, tribal fire dancing from Mónica Pereira to finish the event off.

The new restaurant can accommodate 50 people inside and 35 outside, but it also has a lounge area downstairs along with benches and seating outside that is perfect to enjoy a cocktail, aperitifs or a decadent dessert cocktail from 5pm onwards. The ever-popular steak night will continue every Saturday, as will the live music on Thursdays.

There’s a full schedule of entertainment planned for the season, so just keep an eye on Taste’s Facebook page for updates.

Regular guests will not be disappointed with the menu as it’s effectively the same as before with specials and seasonal changes. The wine list is bigger and better, and they are planning on holding wine pairing events in the future.

Closed on Tuesday. Reservations recommended.
