A training camp led by two former footballers who enjoyed successful careers in England, Andy Johnson and Michael Johnson, took place at the Nobel International School in Lagoa on Tuesday (June 12).

The session was organised by London-based Campioni Soccer Academy and gave fifth- and sixth-year students a chance to learn some important tips from two ex-professional players.

Andy Johnson was an English striker who played for Birmingham City, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, scoring 149 times in his career and earning eight caps for the national team.

He was joined by Michael Johnson, a former Jamaican international who made more than 550 appearances in the Football League and Premier League, including more than 250 games for Birmingham City and more than 100 each for Notts County. He is now the head coach of the Guyana national team.

The session was organised to promote two training camps that Campioni will be holding this summer at the Pine Cliffs resort in Albufeira.

The first will take place between July 23 and 27 and will be led by former Premier League star Joleon Lescott, best known for his spell at Manchester City.

The second camp will be held from July 30 to August 3 and will be led by Andy Cole, one of the most successful strikers in Premier League history. He is the third-highest goal scorer in the Premier League with 187 goals, having formed a deadly attacking duo with Dwight Yorke in Manchester United.

Both footballers will be joined by Michael Johnson at the camps.

Price is €550 and includes a kit, bag, water bottle and cap. There will be a 20% discount for Nobel students.
