A new road that would serve as an alternative to the EN125 is due to be built in Olhão, the local council has revealed.

Portugal’s infrastructure authority (IP) has presented two proposals to the council which will now be subjected to studies to establish if they are feasible.

The proposals came after mayor António Pina urged the entity to come up with a solution to the “intense traffic” that is registered every day on the section of the EN125 that crosses the town.

The goal will be to channel some of the traffic away from the EN125 and onto the new road.

Pina says that while the project is being developed by the infrastructure authority, the council is committed to seeing it completed in order to make life easier for its citizens.
