SC Olhanense lost their first home points of the season as new boss Nilton Terroso took charge of the team for the first time against Pinhalnovense last Sunday.

Referee César Leitão set the tone for the afternoon when he booked a player from each side for innocuous challenges in the first 10 minutes. A lack lustre first-half came to life five minutes before the interval as Olhanense took the lead.

Hassan weaved his way into the penalty area before setting up Jefferson to poke the ball through the legs of keeper Adilson Santos.

Three minutes after the interval, Jefferson picked up his first yellow card and, 10 minutes later, the Sporting loanee turned from ‘hero to zero’ as he stupidly tripped a Pinhalnovense attacker to earn himself a second yellow and an early bath.

Five minutes later, the visitors levelled matters as substitute Sócrates headed home a corner at the near post. Olhanense then enjoyed their best period of the game and twice went close to re-establishing their lead.

With the clock running down the league’s top goal scorer Diego Zaporo deftly glanced home a left-wing cross to snatch all three points and consign Olhanense to their second successive league defeat.

The new management team of Nilton Terroso, Teixeira Antunes and Alun Andrews have much work to do if they are to have any hope of rescuing some creditability and discipline in the squad.

Jefferson’s dismissal follows the red card picked up by Mailó at Farense the week before. SC Farense won 1-0 at home to Os Armacenenses thanks to an Álvaro Gomes goal after half-an-hour.

The league leaders have 30 points from 11 games whilst Olhanense are 10 points off the pace back in fifth place. Olhanense travel to the Municipal Stadium at Armação de Pêra on Sunday to play Os Armacenenses - kick-off 3pm.
