Aljezur International School in the Algarve is holding an Open Day on Saturday, October 12 to celebrate its recent move to new premises.

There will be workshops for children and adults, a barbecue and tea party, treasure hunt, live music and more.

Students have been rehearsing a short production which they have written for World Hunger Day, and will be performing this at the Open Day.

The new school building is a converted farmhouse 5km south of Aljezur, with a large piece of land attached and a river running through it.

Co-director at Aljezur International, Sílvia Catarino, said: “We are so happy in our new educational home and cannot wait to show people what we offer.

“We would like to share our resources with adult learners who may wish to use the building for evening or weekend classes. The Open Day offers the perfect opportunity to discuss this and other exciting possibilities with the Aljezur International team, as well as having a fun day out.”

The school’s record of academic success continued this year when students recently received the results of their Cambridge IGCSE’s - 91% achieved A* to C. “The tutors of Aljezur International are extremely proud of all the students,” said Sílvia Catarino.

The move to new premises means that a wider variety of subjects can now be offered, including gardening, livestock care and IGCSE Agriculture, as well as critical thinking skills and sociology.

The activities on October 12 begin at midday, with the workshops being available from 2pm to 5pm.
