A dinner celebrating Portuguese cuisine will take place on Saturday, June 23 at Vila Vita Parc in Porches as part of the resort’s new series of themed gastronomic events entitled ‘Culin’Art Dinners’.

Nuno Barros, owner and executive chef of Lisbon’s 1300 Taberna restaurant, will be teaming up with the two resident chefs at Vila Vita Parc’s Adega restaurant, Luís Rodrigues and Amândio João.

Barros is known for the “innovative way he presents the best flavours of Portuguese cuisine and for his use of national, seasonal and organic products, always with a focus on sustainability,” the resort says in a statement.

The dinner will feature six main dishes and two desserts. The menu starts off with Algarve-style carrots, followed by smoked tuna and salad. The third dish will be ‘xerém’ (a type of polenta) with razor clams (lingueirão), followed by oysters and smoked chorizo sausages from Monchique.

The traditional Algarvean ‘carapaus alimados’ dish, made with horse mackerel which is covered in salt and left to rest for at least a day, will also be served followed by octopus accompanied by Aljezur’s delicious sweet potatoes.

Dessert will feature the Algarve’s famous oranges and peanuts from Aljezur.

The food will be paired with wines from Lisbon’s Quinta de Sant’Ana.

Cost per person is €55, not including drinks.
