Since 2008, Penguin has expanded from air conditioning to embrace all aspects of energy-saving home heating and cooling: solar systems for hot water, photovoltaic (PV) systems for electricity, high-efficiency heat pumps for warm water underfloor and radiator systems.

With experience and expansion come larger projects. Nowadays Penguin works with architects, engineers and builders to design and install sophisticated fully-integrated systems for new homes.

Director Chris Blackburn emphasises the company’s credentials.

“We’re fully-accredited and accountable with an ‘Alvará’ licence and 19 staff members, including experienced installers, qualified HVAC and gas technicians, electricians, plus our own building capabilities. With such resources we’re increasingly invited to contribute to construction projects from the foundations up, from standard-size homes to large luxury residences.”

Many luxury properties incorporate superb technical rooms that are shining examples of modern systems’ sophistication and engineering innovation.

“The technologies we install are based on performance, not an allegiance to brands,” Chris explains. “In construction projects we liaise with clients to understand their needs, apply technical solutions tailored to these, then work with other project players to ensure integration into the property’s design and build. We also offer on-going technical support to the homeowner after completion.”

Coupled with energy-efficient systems are the latest ‘smart’ devices that make any home easier to monitor, control, and achieve maximum energy savings.

Yet air conditioning still remains at the company’s core.
