Coastline in some areas of Portugal is at risk of recedig by up to 100 metres if nothing is done to slow down the effects of coastal erosion, according to research by Portuguese professor Rui Taborda. He believes that the region stretching from Aveiro to Peniche is the area that is most at risk. Taborda also said that floods will become more frequent with time and the Ria Formosa in the Algarve is among one of the most susceptible in the country.
