Ride-sharing app Cabify has arrived in the Algarve, joining Uber as the second online transportation service to operate in the region just in time for summer.

The 24-hour service started today (June 7) and covers the whole Algarve from Sagres to Vila Real de Santo António.

Passengers can request immediate rides or book them in advance, with two categories to choose from – Lite (up to four passengers) or Group (up to seven).

“Besides our Portugal customers, we also hope to serve the tourism sector. Many of the tourists who visit us come from countries where Cabify already operates, such as Spain,” said Nuno Santos, Cabify’s general director in Portugal.

The service hopes to serve everyone, “from partygoers and beachgoers to those who need to catch a flight early in the morning”.

Cabify already operates in Lisbon, Porto and Funchal. Based in Madrid, the company operates in Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Panama, Ecuador, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
