Starting this Friday (May 12), Tavira will be hosting the 14th Festival de Gastronomia do Mar (Tavira Seafood Festival), celebrating the boons of a Mediterranean lifestyle powered by the Algarve’s signature seafood.

Twenty-one restaurants (see list below) will be taking part, each serving their own menus. Dishes will feature traditional delicacies like octopus, tuna, monkfish, sardines and health-promoting mackerel.

There will also be a chance for diners to win prizes, including free stays in hotels and tickets for tuk-tuk rides, stand-up paddle-boarding, boat trips along Ria Formosa and concerts of Fado.

Organised by Tavira council, the festival runs until Wednesday, May 31.
