Ocean restaurant in Vila Vita Parc received a Gold Fork
Conrad Algarve received a Gold Key

Six restaurants and four hotels in the Algarve received awards in the 2018 edition of ‘Boa Cama, Boa Mesa’, a guide to Portugal’s best hotels and restaurants published by Expresso newspaper.

Almancil’s São Gabriel was the only restaurant in the Algarve to receive the guide’s top honour, the ‘Platinum Fork’.

Ocean (Lagoa) and Vila Joya (Albufeira) were awarded a ‘Gold Fork’ each, while the third most important gastronomic accolade, the ‘Silver Fork’, was handed to Pequeno Mundo (Loulé), Restaurante Noélia (Tavira) and Vista (Portimão).

José Avillez, famous for his TV shows and his acclaimed Belcanto restaurant, was named ‘Chef of the Year’.

The Algarve’s notoriety as a top destination for foodies has been growing in recent years, with the region currently boasting a total of 10 Michelin stars.

The ‘Boa Cama, Boa Mesa’ guide also awarded four of the region’s hotels. Vila Vita Parc (Porches) received a ‘Platinum Key’, Anantara Vilamoura and Conrad Algarve were granted a ‘Gold Key’ each and Martinhal Beach & Resort Hotel was awarded a ‘Silver Key’.

The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 27 at Lisbon’s Cineteatro Capitólio and was attended by Economy Minister Manuel Caldeira Cabral.

The guide is already for sale, costing €12.90.
