Spanish pet shop chain Kiwoko will open its first two megastores in Portugal at Portimão and Albufeira retail centres next Saturday (June 11).

The launch ceremonies begin at 10am and will feature many “surprises”, including discounts of up to €100, and activities like face painting and free gifts.

Each megastore is over 800sqm and will offer some 5,000 products – ranging from food to hygiene and ‘beauty items’ and toys – as well as a veterinary office, a grooming parlour and an animal adoption centre.

What Kiwoko never sells are animals. It encourages its clients to adopt cats and dogs from its centres in Spain.

The chain has revealed that its Algarve stores have created 24 jobs that will “contribute to the dynamism of the local economy”.

The stores can be found at Portimão Retail Center and Albufeira Retail Park.

Opening hours are from 10am to 10pm.
