A new programme entitled Startup Visa was launched on Tuesday (December 2) to put Portugal "at the top of the list for business development and innovation".

Hopes are that the initiative will be able to convince foreign investors to invest in Portugal in the medium to long-term by offering them residency permits.

"StartUp Portugal was presented during this Web Summit and received rave reviews while generating interest (from entrepreneurs) in moving some companies to our country after the programme came into effect," Economy Minister Manuel Cabral told Lusa news agency.
